    • Exclusive commercial agreement enables KITE Zrt. to bring Indigo 30WD (Cereals & Corn), i30FP (Corn) and i280FP (Sunflower) to Hungarian market
    • Recent yield performance data for both i30FP and i280FP demonstrates significant value to Hungarian growers
    • Signed MOU establishes foundation for future R&D collaboration

Basel/ Budapest 1/9/2022 – Indigo Agriculture Europe, GmbH., a company dedicated to harnessing nature to help farmers sustainably feed the planet, and KITE Zrt., one of the largest agricultural companies in Hungary, today announced a significant expansion of their existing partnership to bring a new portfolio of biological water and nutrient use efficiency seed treatments to Hungarian growers and to collaborate on future R&D activity. The announcement was made at a meeting between the management teams of the two companies at Indigo’s global headquarters in Boston, United States.

With a collection of more than 36,000 microbial strains, Indigo has established itself as a global leader in harnessing the potential of plant microbiome for growers around the world. This exclusive commercial agreement will enable KITE Zrt. to bring Indigo 30WD (Cereals & Corn), i30FP (Corn) and i280FP (Sunflower) to Hungarian growers. According to 2021 performance data, which was gathered in Hungary in cooperation with KITE Zrt.’s R&D team, both i30FP and i280FP demonstrated significant yield increases per hectare in corn and sunflower.

The products are part of Indigo’s biotrinsic™ portfolio - a collection of microbial seed treatments that increase crop water and nutrient use efficiency. They have been proven to improve yields whilst reducing the use of other inputs contributing to increased grower profitability and a better environment.

In addition to the commercial agreement, the two companies have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes the foundation for future R&D collaboration that will combine their individual strengths, leveraging KITE’s capabilities in field science to better assess Indigo’s product pipeline in field trial conditions.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Sergi Barrull, Indigo’s Commercial Head Biologicals in Europe said: “We are delighted to have hosted KITE’s management team at our global headquarters in Boston and are very excited about extending our partnership with them. Over the past two years, we have worked closely together with KITE and the precision and quality of their R&D team has consistently impressed us. The performance data we have gathered provides a strong foundation for the expansion of our biotrinsic offer in Hungary, specifically for corn and sunflower, and brings new biological innovation to Hungarian growers that is good for their profitability and the sustainability of the environment.”

KITE’s Chief Executive Officer, Levente Szabó, said: “Our R&D team has been trialing Indigo technology since the 2021 spring season. We’ve used KITE’s Digital Modelling System to analyze its field performance and we can see the value microbial technology could bring to Hungarian farmers. We are happy to give our customers access to this innovative technology.”
